The ‘sin’ button

In March 2017 Panasonic introduced a new washing machine designed for the Indian market.  Consumers had complained that existing machines could not remove the stubborn stains left by curry.  So Panasonic spent two years researching the ingredients used to make curry, and then testing different combinations of water temperature and water flow to find the best way of removing them.  The result?  The first washing machine with a ‘curry button’.

Well it’s not just our clothes that get stained but our characters as well.  The Bible says that we have all fallen short of God’s standards, and every selfish act we commit leaves a stain on our lives that we can’t remove.  But on this Good Friday we remember a God of love who provided a solution that could remove every stubborn stain and blemish from our lives.  Not a ‘curry’ button but a ‘sin’ button.

The prophet Isaiah foresaw what Jesus would achieve through His death on the cross and wrote these words, “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be like wool.”

Time will tell whether Panasonic’s new machine lives up to its promise.  Time has already told that Jesus lives up to His.
