Wonderfully made

The UK has recently passed the grim milestone of 125,000 deaths from Covid19. Every life lost was sacred and precious and each passing has been mourned. But during the same period approximately twice that number of babies have been lost through abortion. Every one of those lives was sacred and precious and known to God. The Bible reminds us that not even a sparrow falls to the ground without God knowing about it, much less a life created in His own image.

In Psalm 139 David writes, โ€˜For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my motherโ€™s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body.โ€™

As a society we have deliberately cast this knowledge aside but to our own detriment. We have forgotten that we are creatures, and that life is sacred. Thatโ€™s why Black Lives Matter. Thatโ€™s why womenโ€™s lives matter and should be treated with honour and respect. Thatโ€™s why all lives matter.
