What are the chances?

In the beginning God.  Is that a reasonable statement or the fantasy of the primitive and uneducated?  The Grand Theory of Evolution takes the latter position and argues that life began millions of years ago, with the random formation of a very simple cell capable of survival and replication.  From that simple cell all life then evolved.

But how simple did simple have to be?  It turns out not very simple at all!  Scientists have concluded that the simplest cell that must have existed for life to begin, ‘looks pretty much like a modern cell’; and for evolution to work this cell must have appeared completely by chance.  So what are the chances of that happening?  Well it would be harder than guessing a 5,000 digit PIN code on the first go!

As the famous cosmologist, Sir Fred Hoyle, concluded, “The likelihood of the formation of life from inanimate matter is one to a number with 40,000 noughts after it…  It is big enough to bury Darwin and the whole theory of evolution…. and if the beginnings of life were not random, they must therefore have been the product of purposeful intelligence.”

Turns out then that, ‘In the beginning God’, may not be as crazy an idea as many people seem to think.
