One view, two viewpoints

Many years ago I stood on the battlefield at Culloden in Scotland and waxed lyrical about the last pitched battle on British soil. It was 1746 and the Jacobite rebellion was brutally put down by government forces. In less than an hour 1,600 men were slain, 1,500 of them Jacobites. My friend stood next to me looked at the same view and said, โ€˜Itโ€™s just a field.โ€™ Which goes to show that two people can look at the same view and come to two different viewpoints.

So it is that the Atheistโ€™s Forum can tweet incredulously that Christianity is the โ€˜belief that one God created a universe 13.79 billion years old, 93 billion light years in diameter, consisting of over 200 billion galaxies, each containing an average of 200 billion stars, only to have a personal relationship with youโ€™; and the Psalmist can write โ€˜When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, the son of man that you care for him?โ€™
