Not what we expected

We sometimes begin a journey quite sure of our destination, only to have something throw us off course and lead us in a completely different direction.  Take Dorothy for example who set off home only to be caught up in a tornado and whisked away to the Land of Oz and a bizarre adventure involving a Scarecrow, a Tin Man a Cowardly Lion, Flying Monkeys and a Wizard who turned out not to be nearly as scary as he made out.

Or take the Apostle Paul, who set out for Damascus determined to arrest and imprison Christians, only to have an encounter with the risen Jesus that left him blind for three days, and then so turned his life upside-down that he spent the rest of his life proclaiming that Jesus was the divine Son of God and the Saviour of the world.

Or take Billy Graham who one day travelled to a revival meeting in North Carolina convinced that the only people who attended such events were old, effeminate men and crazy women and children, but who was so affected by the message he heard that he became perhaps the greatest preacher since the Apostle Paul.

So whatever journey you may have started, donโ€™t ever assume you know where itโ€™s going to end up!
