New Year, New Direction?

In 2013 intrepid aviator Tracey Curtis Taylor flew a 1940’s bi-plane from Cape Town, South Africa to Goodwood, England. It was a flight not without mishap and adventure. Coming in to land in Uganda she was informed by the control tower that a passenger plane was coming in behind her and that she must abort her landing and make a sharp turn to the left. Sadly the air traffic controller didn’t know his left from his right and instead of directing Tracey into open airspace she found herself flying low over the President’s palace, much to the consternation of the security forces who were waiting to arrest her and impound her plane when she landed!

As we stand at the beginning of a new year, one thing is for certain – we have no idea what the year will hold; the good news, however, is that it is possible to know the One who holds the year. The Bible says that God knows every day of our lives before even one of them has come to be, and that if we will let Him, He will guide us into paths that are good for us, and where we will be kept safe. Through the prophet Isaiah God says this, “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”
